The MSPEI CME (Continuing Medical Education) Funding program subsidizes costs related to defined CME activities for eligible MSPEI members up to a maximum of $2000 annually based on available funding.


Application Deadlines 2017:

Fee-for-service and contract physician applications are accepted up to January 31, 2018 of completed education/examination or purchase.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION To expedite processing, please ensure all necessary documentation is included with the application as outlined below:

Registration for accredited courses or conferences A registration receipt and confirmation of obtained CME credits is required. Requests to consider applications without accreditation must be received in writing.

Registration for medical professional annual meetings offering CME Applications must include a registration receipt and information outlining the CME component. If a registration fee was not applied, approved applicants will receive $500. MSPEI and CMA Annual Meetings are excluded.

Home centered CME A receipt is required for the cost of programs approved by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, The American Academy of Family Physicians or an equivalent organization representing a specific specialty; associated hardware expenses (computers, televisions, etc.) will not be considered.

Software The cost of software required for CME will be considered if accompanied by a written description of the benefits specific to CME (e.g., Up-to-Date). Sales receipts for software must be dated to reflect a purchase within the CME fiscal year.

Certification Examinations If not otherwise funded, CCFP and specialty exams (i.e. ER certification within the CCFP) for practicing family physicians.

PAYMENT Approved applicants may receive up to $2000 annually. Funds are limited and released to approved applicants according to the date application is received. 



Applicants must be members of MSPEI in good standing: 

  1. Fee-for-service, Sessional and/or contract

  2. Locum – if providing 6 or more months of service annually

Applications from salaried physicians are received January 1 to January 31, 2018 dependent on available funds from 2017. To this end, notification will be made on the status of remaining Supplementary Funding. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
