Wellness & Leadership Programs

The following programs are designed to support eligible physician members in every aspect of their lives—health, wellbeing, personal, and professional. From mental health resources to work-life balance support, we are here to help you thrive. Explore MSPEI’s offerings and discover how we can support your journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life. These programs are funded through the Physician Services Agreement Healthy Physician Workforce Fund (D4).

Physician Coaching Program

Through this one-on-one coaching program, MSPEI matches physicians with qualified coaches to support them in strengthening their leadership skills, improving professional satisfaction, finding work-life balance, or finding ways to build on their strengths.

Peer-to-Peer Program

MSPEI’s Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Program is a peer support program, which aims to provide proactive and responsive peer support for physicians who have experienced, or are experiencing, career-related stressors.

 

It is a program designed for physicians by physicians, in which physicians offer to be there with and for their colleagues in difficult times.

Physician Health Program

MSPEI members and their families are encouraged to use the Physician Health Program (PHP). This premium program—first of its kind to be offered to PEI physicians—offers:

  • An unprecedented array of services to improve health and build resiliency;
  • Confidential and discreet support;
  • Access to an extensive network of physicians, counsellors, therapists and coaches; and
  • Established track record in serving physicians and their families (35+ years’ experience)

Physician Services Agreement Programs

These programs are funded through the Physician Services Agreement 2019-24 (D1, D2, D3 and D5)

The Physician Retention Program is designed to help support the stability of physician services. It is awarded to physicians who continue to practice on the Island after one year of service.

CMPA Assistance Program

THE CMPA Assistance program helps offset the costs associated with obtaining medical practice insurance.

Continuing Medical Education Program

The MSPEI Continuing Medical Education (CME) funding program subsidizes costs incurred by Full fee-for-service, contract, and sessional members in good standing pursuing eligible CME credits up to a maximum of $3,000* annually.

Parental Leave Program

The Medical Society of PEI administers a Parental Leave Program for eligible physicians in Prince Edward Island. The Program provides for up to 26 consecutive weeks of benefits for a physician who intends to take leave during and following the birth or adoption of their child. This program is available for both salaried and non-salaried physicians who are Full or Associate Physician members with the Society and are in good standing.

Practice Support Programs

As physicians, managing a practice can take time away from quality patient care. Whether you’re just starting your medical career, you need more support with an established clinic, or you are transitioning out of practice, the Practice Support Program is here for you.

MSPEI offers support with the EMR Peer Champion Program.

Charting Champions

This Charting Champions course is designed to support and help PEI physicians become more efficient at charting and doing less charting after hours. It has come highly recommended including by PEI physicians who previously completed it.

Participants will take part in six key modules, have access to group calls, guest speakers, and more.

Practice Facilitation

Practice Facilitation provides access to facilitators to help you achieve practice efficiency and quality improvement. Practice facilitators will meet with you to understand your unique practice and provide a recommended approach. You can identify a specific topic, describe a situation, or request general practice advice and support.
