The Overhead Stipend Program provides a $25,000 financial stipend to eligible Fee-for-Service (FFS) physicians to help cover the overhead costs of their medical practice, such as space and staff compensation.
This program is a new benefit under the Physician Services Agreement, effective April 1, 2025. The stipend will be provided to FFS physicians who are responsible, either personally or through a corporate structure, for the overhead costs of their physical workspace and staff compensation that has not been otherwise been subsidized by Health PEI or the PEI Government.
Eligibility criteria is as follows:
- Full Fee-For-Service MSPEI member in good standing;
- Responsible for overhead costs of physical space and staff compensation;
- Not subsidized by Health PEI or Government;
- Engaged to provide services with Health PEI or the Department of Health and Wellness;
- Be remunerated through the PSA;
- Permanent status (not a locum);
- Received $100,000 in remuneration in the previous fiscal year (Apr 1 – Mar 31).
Physicians will need to apply for the stipend for Year 1. Eligibility will be verified without the need for an application in future years. The stipend will be paid to members in December. Year 1 applications will close on September 1.
