Dr. Aaron Sibley, an emergency room physician in Charlottetown and a Major in the Canadian Armed Forces, has been selected as the first-ever representative from Prince Edward Island to join the prestigious Team Canada Medical Football Team. Dr. Sibley will represent Canada at the World Medical Football Championships in Dublin, Ireland, next summer.
Chosen from over 100 physicians who applied to represent Canada, Dr. Sibley’s selection marks a milestone for PEI in the medical sports community. The weeklong tournament brings together medical professionals from around the globe to compete on the soccer pitch, showcasing both athletic and professional excellence.
Dr. Sibley, who previously played soccer at the provincial level for Nova Scotia before pausing his athletic pursuits to attend medical school, shared his enthusiasm about the opportunity.
"I am deeply honored to represent Canada, not only on the soccer pitch but also as a soldier and physician,” Dr. Sibley said. “Balancing my duties as an ER doctor, military officer, and now as a member of Team Canada Medical Football is a privilege. I’m thrilled to bring PEI into the spotlight at this global event."
Dr. Paul Dhillon, founder of Team Canada Medical Football and a driving force behind the organization, expressed his excitement about Dr. Sibley’s inclusion on the team.

In addition to his role as an ER physician, Dr. Sibley serves with the Canadian Medical Emergency Response Team (CMERT) and actively contributes to Canada’s military operations. His participation in the World Medical Football Championships will highlight his ability to excel in both his professional and athletic endeavors.
