Welcoming the next cohort of medical students

September 28, 2026

MSPEI Member Program and Services Lead Corinne Verleun and Ex-Officio Board Member and CMA Representative Dr. Kristy Newson recently joined the orientation of 20 new learners at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Regional Campus at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI).

As part of our annual tradition, they handed out the “black bags” to the incoming students, providing some essential first-year medical supplies, including a stethoscope.

All 20 students are from PEI, making them the second cohort to begin their Doctor of Medicine journey on the Island.

A special thanks to our partners at MD Financial Management for providing goodies for the students who stopped by the MSPEI booth.

MSPEI wishes all Island medical learners the very best as they continue their training. From the classroom to the clinic and into residency, every stage of the journey brings them closer to their future as physicians. We are proud to support the next generation of physicians and hope many will continue to feel the connection to PEI and choose to build their careers here.
