Physician Wellness and Professionalism Learning Series
MSPEI’s new, accredited virtual learning series is designed to spark meaningful change in how physician wellness and professionalism are understood and practiced in PEI. Each month, expert speakers will lead thought-provoking sessions that equip physicians with the insight, motivation, and practical tools to support their own well-being, as well as that of their colleagues and the profession as a whole.
We are pleased to invite you to this CME-accredited learning series focused on cultivating awareness, desire, knowledge, and abilities for physicians to lead positive culture shift in physician wellness and professionalism. (CanMEDS roles: leader, scholar, professional)
The first of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Series is on Nov. 19, 2025.
This series meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Dalhousie University Continuing Professional Development and Medical Education for up to 1.5 Mainpro+® Certified Activity Credits. Additional information about accreditation is below.
Session 4: "From Tension to Transformation: practical tools to manage conflict in healthcare"
This session, presented by Dr. Amanda Brisebois, will take place virtually on Feb. 25 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize common patterns and root causes of conflict in healthcare environments (CanMEDS roles: leader, scholar)
- Practice real-time communication strategies to address disagreement and discomfort as they arise (CanMEDS roles: professional, communicator, collaborator)
- Apply a structured approach to work through complex or ongoing workplace conflicts constructively (CanMEDS roles: leader, scholar, communicator, collaborator)

Session 2: Incivility in the Healthcare Workplace
December 3, 2025

- Summarize the prevalence of incivility in the healthcare workplace (CanMEDS roles: leader, scholar)
- Recognize the impact of unprofessional behaviour on patient safety and our work environment (CanMEDS roles: leader, professional)
- Describe three effective strategies for reducing incivility in your workplace. (CanMEDS roles: leader, professional)
Session 3: Let's Talk About Physician Suicide
January 21, 2026
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Compare the prevalence of suicide within the physician population to the general public. (CANmeds roles: medical expert, scholar)
- Recognize the unique risk factors that contribute to increased risk of suicide among physicians. (CANmeds roles: medical expert, health advocate, scholar)
- List the behavioural, emotional, and verbal indicators of distress associated with increased risk of suicide. (CANmeds roles: medical expert, health advocate, scholar)
- Discover practical strategies for checking in on a colleague who may be struggling. (CANmeds: communicator, collaborator, professional)
- State the resources for mental health support available to physicians. (CANmeds: health advocate, professional, scholar).
