How MSPEI is supporting members
Release of the 2025 Canadian Medical Association (CMA) National Physician Health Survey has revealed that the profession hasn’t recovered from the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic. While there are signs of improvement in some key areas, like accessing support and work-life balance, psychological indicators continue to signal the need for ongoing attention and support.
CMA 2025 National Physician Health Survey – psychological indicators (PEI)
- Burnout (MBI-2 item): 50%
- Depressive symptoms (PHQ-2): 56%
- Anxiety (moderate / severe; GAD-7): 15%
- Recent suicidal ideation (last 12 months): 13%
- Physicians can speak to a peer who has ‘been there’ by accessing our Peer-to-Peer Program
- Members can access the Physician Health Program to support with the distress they are experiencing
- Physicians can connect with one of the coaches in our Coaching Program, with specialized skills in wellness coaching
- Members can access MSPEI's growing repository of learning assets to connect with national and international thought leaders, and emerging best practice in physician professionalism.
